Obituary
Carlton Bowen, 89, of Atwood and formerly of East Jordan, died Oct. 31, 1995, at Country Haven Adult Foster Care in Atwood.
Funeral will be 1 p.m, Friday, Nov. 3, at the Hastings Funeral Home in Ellsworth with the Rev. Merlin K. Delo officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery;East Jordan.
Mr. Bowen was born July 23, 1906, in East Jordan, the son of Isaac and Nina (Hammond) Bowen. He graduated from East Jordan High School in 1925, and graduated with a Life Certificate from Central Michigan Normal School (Central Michigan University) in 1927.
After teaching several years in the East Jordan school system, Mr. Bowen took a job with the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington, D.C.
On Dec. 10, 1936, he marriedJane Mauldin in Washington, D.C., where the couple made their home. In 1941, Mr. Bowen purchased the Cherryvale Hatchery and the couple moved to East Jordan.
