Funeral services for Maurice V. Vance, 75, of East Jordan, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Oak Chapel of Vanderwall Funeral Home. The Rev. James Duncan of the East Jordan Missionary Church will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Vance died Nov. 6, 1984, at Grandvue Medical Care Facility.
He was born, Jan. 7, 1909, in Antrim County, and was married to the former Nancy D. Shirley on Sept. 7, 1929, in Flint. The couple resided in Flint where Mr. Vance was employed at Sealtest Dairy until returning to East Jordan in 1942 and establishing the Rainbow Party Store and the Rainbow Motel.
He served as a member of the East Jordan Planning Commission in the 1960s and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Maurice K. of Saudi Arabia and West Palm Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren; and a step-sister, Mrs. Allen (Noreen) Lancaster of Orlando, Fla.
The family suggests memorials to the East Jordan Ambulance Fund. Envelopes for that purpose are available at Vanderwall Funeral Home where friends may call until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9.
