William “Butch” Breakey, 73, of East Jordan died Wednesday, March 3, 2021, in Traverse City, Michigan.
He was born on January 12, 1948, in Charlevoix, the son of Thomas, Sr. and Mary Lou (Peterson) Breakey. He graduated from East Jordan High School in 1966. Butch worked for the City of East Jordan for 34 years. He retired in 2011, as the superintendent of public works.
On April 9, 2011, he married Janis Gothro at his home in East Jordan. He was married by Mayor, Russ Peck.
Butch is survived by his wife, Janis Breakey of East Jordan; two daughters, Amy (Karl) Beal of East Jordan and Sara (Dale) Schroeder of Kalamazoo; three step children, Brent (Kristi) Hawley of Flat Rock, Kelli (Jake) Slaven of Petersburg, Alaska and Kevin (Stephanie) Rebec of East Jordan; three grandchildren, Jordan Breakey, Ryan Schroeder and Lindsay Schroeder; four step grandchildren, Kaitlyn Hawley, Hannah Slaven, Thomas Slaven and Bailey Bender; one brother, Thomas “Tinker” (Trudy) Breakey, Jr. of East Jordan; and one sister, Debbie (Rich) Hoffman of Ellsworth; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Patricia “Tricia” Easterwood.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on April 17, 2021, from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M at the Mallard Bar and Grill, 9569 Bailey Road, East Jordan, MI.
