Thomas Wade Brown
Thomas Wade Brown, of East Jordan, passed on Jan. 15, 2011, with heart failure.
Born Feb. 28, 1948, in Charlevoix, Tom grew up in East Jordan. He graduated from
Clare High School and from Michigan State University.
His career was as a metallurgist in manufacturing plants in Michigan. He was a past owner
of Nanny's Restaurant in Charlevoix. He was a real estate agent in Charlevoix with Real
Estate One and recently in East Jordan with Stark Reality.
Tom is survived by his partner, Kathie Major; his sisters, Marcella Brown Sweet (Ralph)
of Taos, N.M., Patricia Brown of Freemont, Calif., Teddie Hester (Michael) of LomaLinda, Calif.,
and Cathy Ferrell (Ray) of Riverside, Calif.
Other surviving relatives include 10 nieces and nephews; his aunt, Barbara Crick Wade;
and four first cousins, Ken Wade (Sharon), Dean Wade (Debbie), Diana Morgen (Rick) and Lynda Smith (Randy) and their families.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lorene and E.E. Wade, Rafaela and Joe
Henry Brown; his mother, Clare Wade Brown, and his father, Joe H. Brown.
Tom is remembered for his sense of humor, his love of lake life and his astute poignant
life observations. He loved his community. He was an avid boater and navigated many
miles of Northern shores.
He was buried on Tuesday, Jan 18, at Sunset Hill Cemetery in East Jordan.
A celebration ofTom's life will take place on July 24, 2011. Notification will be published.
