Obituary
Suebel E. Stallard, 88, of East Jordan, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Sue was born on June 6, 1934, in Chestonia, Michigan, the daughter of Vail, Sr. and Clarabelle (Grutsch) Shepard. She grew up in East Jordan and graduated from the East Jordan High School.
On February 13, 1960, in Bath, MI., she married Ernest G. Stallard. He preceded her in death on August 4, 2003.
Ernie and Sue owned and operated the Jordan Valley Greenhouse in East Jordan for many years until their retirement in 1993.
She devoted her life to helping and enjoying time with others through her memberships in the East Jordan Lioness, East Jordan Bowling League, East Jordan Little League, Peninsula Grange #706 and the East Jordan United Methodist Church. She was a lecturer for 45 years for Weight Watchers.
She loved watching the Detroit Tigers and also trying her luck at various casinos both in Michigan and in Las Vegas. She also loved singing, gardening and spending time with her family. Most of all, she loved watching her son play softball. Sue was his number one fan.
Sue is survived by her loving family, two daughters, Cynthia Sitzema of Charlevoix and Sharolyn Argetsinger of East Jordan; one son, Allan (Shelley) Stallard of East Jordan; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one sister, Carla (Dale) Bolser of East Jordan; one brother, Vail (Wendy) Shepard, Jr. of East Jordan; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Joe Weiler; and two sons-in-law, Steven J. Sitzema and Jeff W.Argetsinger.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at the Lighthouse Missionary Church, East Jordan. Pastor Karen Harriman of the East Jordan United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, East Jordan, MI.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc. in East Jordan. Memorials may be given to the East Jordan United Methodist Church or Munson Hospice.
