William Stanley Dunson

William Stanley Dunson, 79, of East Jordan, passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at Grandvue Medical Care Facility, East Jordan.
He was born on November 6, 1941, in Charlevoix, the son of William Donald and Neva Vivian (Hitchcock) Dunson.
He grew up in East Jordan and graduated from East Jordan High School. He worked at the East Jordan Iron Works, now known as EJ, USA. Bill served in the United States Army working on tanks in Germany. He worked as a Rural Route Carrier for the United States Postal Service for 27 years in East Jordan. He retired from the postal service in 2004.
He loved delivering mail and talking with his patrons. Bill enjoyed life, hunting, walking in the woods, cutting wood, sports, watching Kyle play ball when he was young.
Bill was always very helpful. He loved spending time with his mother and having lunch with her. Of course, he was always ready to eat! Bill loved all of his family.
He was a member of the American Legion Rebec-Hosler Sweet Post #227 in East Jordan and the East Jordan Lions Club. He also had served the East Jordan community as a member of the Planning Commission until a few years ago.
On May 25th, 1996, Bill married Joyce Gee in Overisel, Michigan.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Joyce Dunson and their son, Kyle (Rachel) Dunson; daughter, Anne (Tim) Adams; sons, Billy (Teresa) Dunson and Chris (Holly) Dunson; his mother, Neva V. Dunson; four sisters, Susie Underwood, Carol Dunson, Nancy (Ron) Schroeder and Brenda Balogh; three brothers, Louis (Diane) Dunson, John Dunson and Wayne (Laura) Dunson; several grandchildren and three great grandchildren; an aunt, Georgia (Jerry) McKenney; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1981; his sister, Jane DeNise in 2019; and infant son, Joel Dunson in 1975.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 21, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. at the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc., East Jordan. Rev. Craig Pahl of the East Jordan United Methodist Church will officiate with interment following at Sunset Hill Cemetery, East Jordan, Michigan.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. at the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc., East Jordan. In honor of Bill Dunson, memorial contributions may be directed to Sun Rays of Strays, 1715 S. Peninsula Road, East Jordan, MI 49727.
