Rosetta M. Nemec, 85
Rosetta M. Nemec, 85, of Traverse City, died on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, at Grand Traverse Pavilions.
Rose was born on April 13, 1924, in Newberry. She came from a logging family as one of 13 children to Robert and Kate (Painter) Peters.
She lived in East Jordan with her husband, Joseph Nemec
Rose worked for Grandvue Medical Care Facility as the activity director for 25 years and later volunteered four hours a day, five days a week, for seven years at the Grand Traverse Pavilions as "Grandma Rose", the baby rocker. She helped make more than 3,500 Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, volunteered at the animal shelter and played music for senior citizens. Rose loved God and loved her family. She was always there for anyone in need and enjoyed a wonderful, full life.
Rose is survived by her children, Ronald (Wilma) McPherson, Marie (Elory) Roberts, David Nemec, Elizabeth McDermot, Judy Nemec and Paul Nemec; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; siblings, John (Della) Copin, Elsie (Leonard) Beardsley, Blanche Campbell, Florence J. (Donald) Saxton and Ellen (Amil) Strang; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Kathy Grant.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Robert and Kate Peters; husband, Joseph Nemec; children, Robert McPherson and Gary Nemec and siblings, Jim Roach, Andy Copin, Harriet Schmitt, Ethel Dickerson, Mary Bargy, Kate Campbell and Dorothy Peters.
Visitation was 6-8 p.m.. Sunday, Dec. 20, at Seventh-day Adventist Church on the corner of 4 Mile Road and Hammond Road. The funeral service was 11 a.m.. today, Monday, Dec. 21, at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family for a headstone at Sunset Hill Cemetery in East Jordan.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City.
