East Jordan resident Joseph L. Nemec, 77, died May 10, 1988 at his home. Funeral for Mr. Nemec will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at the Paullin Funeral Home, East Jordan. The Rev. Harold W. DeWitt of the Seventh Day Adventist Church will officiate. Interment will take place in Sunset Hill Cemetery, East Jordan.
Mr. Nemec was born April 23, 1911, in Traverse City, the son of Joseph and Mary (Bohabeau) Nemec.
He has lived in East Jordan since 1941.
On Sept. 18, 1959, he married the former Rose Peters in Manton.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He worked for Porter Hardware in East Jordan, was a self-employed
plumber, and worked for the city of East Jordan.
Mr. Nemec enjoyed music and played the fiddle and piano.
Survivors include his wife, Rose; four sons, David Joseph Nemec of Boyne City, Gary Allen Nemec of Hawley, Texas, Charles
Paul Nemec of Boyne City and Ronnie McPherson of Pontiac; three daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth McDermott of East Jordan, Mrs.
William (Judy) Foster of Grand Rapids, and Mrs. Mark- (Marie) Sulak of Boyne City; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two
brothers, Frank Nemec of Torch Lake Village and William Nemec of Traverse City; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Louiselle of Kewadin, and
Maudie Chase of Traverse City. One brother, Jerry Nemec, preceded him in death.
The family will receive visitors until 9 p.m. today, May 11, at the Paullin Funeral Home, East Jordan.
