Mildred P. Bathke, 85, of East Jordan, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 1996, at the home of her daughter
in East Jordan.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.rn. Wednesday, Nov. 13, at the Paullin-Penzien Funeral Home in East Jordan. The Rev. Mike Allen of the East Jordan Baptist Church will officiate, with interment following at Sunset Hill Cemetery, East Jordan.
Mildred was born May 9, 1911, in New York, N.Y., the daughter of Charles and Pearl (Miller) O'Melia.
On Oct. 12, 1935, in New York City, she married Edwin P. Leppla. He died in 1952, and she moved to East Jordan in 1956.
On May 20, 1960, in Charlevoix, she married Louis R. Bathke. He died on Jan. 20, 1991.
Mrs. Bathke was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star F.J. Lewis Chapter and the East Jordan Baptist Church. She was very active in and past president of the Grandvue Auxiliary. She was also very active in the Charlevoix County Senior Center in East Jordan and the Merry Musical Singers. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting and church activities.
Mildred is survived by one daughter, Lynn Carson, of East Jordan; one stepdaughter, Edith (Russell) Conway, of Carlisle, Pa.; nine grandchildren, which includes two local granddaughters, Anne(Steve) Graham of Gaylord and Kathy (Tim) Drenth of East Jordan; and several great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Reginald O'Melia; one sister, Eileen Boss; one half sister, Louise Borelli; and one stepdaughter, Marie Neumann.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today, Nov. 12, at the Paullin-Penzien
Funeral Home in East Jordan.
