Janet Gail Goodwin, 75, of East Jordan, died on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, in Byron Center, Michigan.
She was born on December 22, 1945, in Benzonia Township, Benzie County, Michigan, the daughter of Albert and Alice (Malpass) Nesman. She graduated from East Jordan High School; received her B.A. from Central Michigan University and had been working on her Master’s Degree from Michigan State University.
On July 4, 1992, on Sapphire Point, Colorado, she married Marv Goodwin. He preceded her in death on October 28, 2008
Janet enjoyed music. She played the harp and organ. She had been a church organist for many years in the Grand Rapids area. She was an avid downhill skier and ballroom dancer.
She is survived by two children, Jan-Al (Jason) Robinson of Grandville and Joel (Lisa) Emerson of Grand Rapids; two grandchildren, Kylie and Chloe Emerson both of Grand Rapids; and two sisters, Carol Sligh and Sally (Van) Burmeister of Ludington. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Jean Atwood.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 17, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. at Sunset Hill Cemetery, East Jordan. The family was served by the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc. in East Jordan.
