Luezetta "Zettie" (Patton) Kitson

January 31, 1925 ~ October 31, 2021 (age 96)

 

  Luezetta “Zettie” Kitson, 96, died on Sunday, October 31, 2021, at her home in East Jordan. 

  She was born on January 31, 1925, in Bellaire, Michigan, the daughter of Leander and Mabel (Scott) Patton.

  She grew up in Bellaire and graduated from Bellaire High School in 1943.  She married Lester Smith, on May 17, 1952 in Alden. He preceded her in death 1958. She then married Ralph E. Kitson, Jr. on March 16, 1963, in Cadillac.

  Although Zettie worked at numerous places of employment including ITT and Mt. Clements Metal Products, both of East Jordan, and Leo’s Grocery in Alden, she loved having children around and she baby sat for many families in need. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, quilting, sewing, crocheting, and watching her children, grand children and great grand-children in sports, band and thespians.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

   She was a  member of the Rebec-Hosler-Sweet Auxiliary Unit #227 of the American Legion in East Jordan, the East Jordan United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.  Over the years, Zettie had served as the treasurer of the Alden United Methodist Church, the East Jordan United Methodist Women and her local bowling league.

  She is survived by seven children, Beverly (Albert) Joseph of East Jordan, Sheilah (George) Blackledge of Boyne Falls, Marsha Ibarra of East Jordan, Yvonne Pentecost of Boyne Falls, Greg (Meg) Kitson of East Jordan, Steaven (Encar) Kitson of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Sherry (Jeff) Gransden of St. Helen; 30   grandchildren; 68 great grandchildren; 27 great great grandchildren; two sisters, Geraldine Schepperley of Livonia and Roberta “Bert” Koutnik of Bellaire; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

  Zettie was preceded in death by her husband in 2013; her parents; four children, Kerri Kitson, Stanley Kitson, Patricia Kitson-Stone and Alan Kitson; one grandchild, Jeffrey Pentecost;one great grandson, Fenway O'Neal; five sisters, Mary Crandall, Frances “Bunny” Arsnoe, Dorthy Marshall, Vada Marshall and Hazel Marshall; and five brothers, Luther “Luke” Patton, Robert “Bob” Patton, Clarence “Sid” Patton, Herman “Bo” Patton and Thomas “Tommy” Patton.

    Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 8, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. at the United Methodist Church in East Jordan. Rev. Craig Pahl will officiate with interment following in Sunset Hill Cemetery, East Jordan.   

  The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 7, 2021, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc. in East Jordan.

  Memorials may be directed to the East Jordan United Methodist Church, East Jordan Ambulance Association and Grandvue Medical Care Facility.
