Obituary

  Ronald Lyle Prebble, better known as Pete, of Canton, North Carolina (formerly of East Jordan, Michigan,)
passed away on September 5, 2022, at Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina.

  Pete was born on August 23, 1948, in Petoskey, Michigan, the third son of Lewis and Iva Prebble, who
preceded him in death. After graduating from East Jordan High School in 1966, Pete worked at the East
Jordan Iron Works until he was drafted into the Army in April of 1968. He served two years in the army, a
year of which was in Vietnam in the 87th Infantry Division as a Staff Sergeant. Pete received the Army
Commendation Medal and Bronze Star while serving in Vietnam.

  Pete joined Champion International Paper Mill, now known as Evergreen Packaging, in Canton, NC on
May 2nd of 1983, and worked there until he retired on November 1st, 2020, as their MRO and
Transportation Manager.

  He enjoyed fishing, hiking, gardening, reading, bird watching, summer visits with family and friends in
East Jordan and spending time with his faithful Yellow Labrador Retriever companion, Krispy.

  Other survivors include siblings, Bob (Jane) Prebble of Boyne City, MI and Suzi (Bob) Hart of North
Tonawanda, NY; and sister-in-law, Beth Prebble of East Jordan, MI. A brother, Raymond, predeceased him
in June of this year.

  He is also survived by his long time special and close friend, Lynn Perry and step-daughter Christi
Ferguson and her children, Taylor, Tori, and Mylie as well as several nieces and nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation, Inc., 256B Industrial
Park Dr.,Waynesville, NC 28786 or St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 99 Academy Street, Canton, NC, 28716.

  There will be a small family gathering at a later date as per his request.  Interment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, East Jordan.
