Martha Mehnert Annear, 97

 

 

Martha Mehnert Annear, 97, of East Jordan died Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan.

She was born on Aug. 17, 1918, in Manson, Iowa, the daughter of Oswald and Lillian J. (Hulson) Mehnert.

She graduated with a B.A. degree from Northern Michigan University in 1939.
On Dee. 30, 1940, she married Keith Annear in Marquette, MI. They made their home in East Jordan. Martha was the East Jordan Public School librarian from 1957 to 1974.

Martha had been a member and deaconess of the First Presbyterian Church in East Jordan, East Jordan Garden Club, Bridge Clubs in East Jordan and Boyne City, Michigan Library Association, secretary and board member of the East Jordan Library Board for 15 years, and the Charlevoix County Humane Society Board for more than three years.

Martha enjoyed gardening, reading, playing bridge, sewing and crafts.

She is survived by three children, Judy (Loren) Wycoff of Bay City, Richard (Dorothy) Annear of Saginaw and Sue Annear of Bay City; six grandchildren, Tracy Annear of Romulus, Carie (Jeff) Mount of Ludington, Keith (Amanda) Annear of Freeland, Steven (Kellie) Wycoff of Rochester, Mark (Dawn) Wycoff of Washington Township and Mike Trinesha) Goebel of Grand Ledge;
11 great-grandchildren, Kylie Mount, Ryan Mount, Richard Annear, Jackson Annear, Liam Annear, Jordan Michael Goebel, Nicholas Goebel, Alec Wycoff, Lauren Wycoff, Nicole Wycoff and Erin Wycoff.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Annear on May 27, 1998; and two sisters, Ruth Baumgardner and Delia Hageman.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, June 28, at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in East Jordan.  The Rev. Lois Aroian will officiate. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, East Jordan, at a later date.

The family will receive friends at church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service time.
