Obituary
Fay Nora (Bennett) Barraw
September 28, 1939 ~ December 23, 2024 (age 85)
The family of Fay Nora (Bennett) Barraw is heartbroken to share that she passed away on December 23, 2024, surrounded by love. Born on September 28, 1939, to Perry James and Fern Virginia (Gee) Bennett in East Jordan, Michigan, Fay lived a life filled with kindness, laughter, and cherished memories.
On January 11, 1958, Fay married the love of her life, Harold Barraw, beginning a beautiful journey together that spanned 66 years. Together, they shared a passion for exploring new places, traveling by car and motorcycle across nearly all the states, and creating a lifetime of adventure. Thoughtful, considerate, and loving, Fay was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend.
Fay found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved baking pies for holiday gatherings, putting together puzzles that she proudly framed for her walls, and spending summers by the waters of Lake Charlevoix, surrounded by friends and family. An avid reader, Fay always had a book in hand, and her love of bowling led her to tournaments for many years, where she built lifelong friendships. She hosted countless Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, creating warm and welcoming holidays, and summer cookouts at the family’s property on the lake, filled with laughter and love.
Fay is survived by her loving husband, Harold Barraw; her three children: Kevin Harold Barraw (Lorraine), Nora Marian Moncada(Oscar), and Stacy Fern Carawan (Earl); her three granddaughters: Amie Lorraine Sattler (Jack), Jennifer K Crittenden (Andrew), and Diva Fay Moncada; and her five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her five siblings: Janet Olson (Harry), Perry Bennett (Kaaren), Sally Kotalik (Ed), Nancy Labeau (Jim), and Linda Ballentine (Frank). Her love, wisdom, and vibrant spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
A funeral service to celebrate Fay’s life will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the Missionary Church in East Jordan, Michigan. There will be no visitation at the funeral home prior to the service. Following the funeral, the church will provide a lunch where family and friends are invited to visit and share their memories.
